It seems that disaster is the name of the game lately.
Many apologies from the staff for losing the site for more then a week. The domain has now been renewed and normal service is resumed.
Thanks for your patience.
Here you can find latest releases and informations about the PJIRC Java-based Webchat Client. Just download the product or join the team, ask questions on the forum or give us comments on our work. We have started the project, now keep it alive!

I guess you all noticed that the website was down for a few days. Many apologies for that. I hope that you can forgive me.
It seems that in my zeal to improve the security of the forums I totally killed the whole site.
Well things are nearly back to normal with a new and improved version of the forums software. There's still a few items of tidyng up to do so please be patient while I work on them.
Just wishing everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.
Look out for a few changes in the new year!
Hey folks.
I feel a bit like Im blogging here, but I just wanted to say that I've written a very basic Java Web Start script for the PJirc applet, and grew to be impressed by the whole concept.
Now at last, your users can break free of that browser!
I'm sure I don't have to tell you what this means for gaming sites etc.
Whilst I was researching this powerful distribution method I found that the benefits of JWS are so great that it's well worth looking at adding better support for it into the applet.
With this in mind I will be doing more research into what needs to be done to make PJirc more able to be distributed in this fashion, and still allow users to customise it for themselves so that their experience is unique and repeatable.
This doesn't mean that PJirc will not still be capable of being an embedded applet, nor will it affect PJirc's stand alone application status.

One of the more frequently asked questions is "When will there be a new certificate?"
Well the answer below will probably be the best you will get.
In order to keep this project alive we need some volunteers.
In line with this I will hopefully be setting out a timeline for a new version of PJirc, but it will not follow the same conventions as the current applet.
However because of my limited brain cells I will be basing the new applet on the old one for the most part. Things I will most likely be changing are:-
* Dropping the continued dependency on JVM v1.1
* Introducing Swing
* Dropping the continuing support for the MS JVM
* Consideration will be given to the notion of charging a nominal amount to sign the applet with a permanent digital certificate unless somebody steps forward with a sufficient donation to cover the cost of said certificate, thereby maintaining the free of cost status of the applet.
* Looking at the possibility of coding a new GUI using swing.
Here's what we need:
* Coders to build the new skinnable Swing based GUI
* Donations to pay for the items that don't come free, such as certificates.
* Designers to show us what a GUI should look like.
* Artists to draw the bitmaps that will be used in the distro version of the new GUI.
* Beta testers.
If anybody out there has genuine skills in any of the above and is willing to provide a workable timetable for no more pay then seeing their name on the best IRC applet in the world then please PM Thema with your details.
Remember that without all of the above nothing will happen.
